From the Yorkshire dales we travelled to Wales
With dogs, frogs, ducks & geese
Perfect tranquility, an excess of peace!
What more could you ask, what more do you need?
Sadly though we must leave, with a big sigh we all heave
We will return, we know not when
‘Cos I have to feed Hetty, my favourite hen!
(Thank you all, we have had a ball!)

The cottage is beautiful. The local walks on the hills and the farms was a lovely experience. The scenery from the cottage is like a picture postcard and luckily the weather was good Driving through the Brecon Beacsons country roads was a magnificent experience and of course not to miss The Gower bays. The timber work and the exposure of the natural grains of the timber is most beautiful, well done Jenny & Bob. With best wishes from

Dear Jenny,
Torquay property looks excellent and when we can twist
Mike and Dee’s arms to come with us we’ll give it a try. We very much
enjoyed the tomatoes and raspberries, in fact the tomatoes were used
yesterday when we had friends to dinner. The Italian crinkly ones
looked so pretty sliced with alternating courgettes on a bed of onions
and garlic. Try it, it’s delicious. Unfortunately we do not have a
veg patch so will decline your offer of cuttings but we’ll be back soon
to Wales to enjoy those fabulous views and to see the amazing Red Kites.

Regards Pat

Hi Jenny

From the very first sight of the cottages we felt a sense of anticipation &excitement, quickly turning into a feeling of well being, escapism & comfort. Even though we did not have the greatest of weeks as regards the weather, the relaxation we found here was superb. Wheatsheaf cottage ready did surpass our expectations and that is a great credit to the owners who have put so much effort and thought into the layout of the property. The cottage provided us with an excellent touring base for the area. There is no doubt that we will be back.
Kind regards
Sue & Dave Rustage.& Maurice

Just wanted to send you a quick note to say we very much enjoyed our stay at Wheatsheaf cottage. You have done it beautifully and we had a very relaxing time. Our 10 week old baby Harry found the surroundings most agreeable and even let Mum and Dad get some much needed sleep! Thanks again.
Kind regards,
Jeremy, Kaila, Oscar & Harry

Hi there Jenny, we just wanted to say a big big thank you for a wonderful stay at the cottage. The weather was cold but sunny with clear blue skies for most of the time. We saw some beautiful sunsets from the living room as the logfire burned away. We took full advantage of the fab kitchen and cooked in all evenings with candles and warm red wines. We visited The Mumbles and took a coastal walk from Caswell Bay to Langlands Bay. The girls rockpooled most of the day at both beaches and we had a lovely hot chocolate at the Langlands Bistro right on the seafront. We also did a circular waterfall walk, I think its called the Elidir Walk which started at Pontneddfechan. The girls did very well on the walk. We drove to Marros Riding Centre near Pendine and did a family pony trek which took us out to fantastic sea views and then back through the forest and streams. From there we spent another sunny afternoon at Amroth beach. We had a super time at the Wheatsheaf cottage, the girls loved putting on their wellies and having a good run around. Catriona particularly loved the white duck who looked like “he had bread on his head”. Many many thanks again for such a superb introduction to a great part of the country.

Hi Jenny, we wanted to let you know that once again we had a wonderful time at the cottage. I love the view in The Wheatsheaf and havn’t tired of it yet. We love the big American fridge freezer, which takes our food shop with ease. As the New Year came in, Barry and I looked outside to see and hear the faint popping of fireworks as we opened our champagne. So much better to sit in front of the fire and talk about what a great year we had had, than to taxi into Chester, organise babysitters and push our way into busy pubs! We went to Langlands Bay for a champagne lunch on my birthday (30th) at the bistro. We had a table inside with a lovely view of the sea. The girls wanted to rock-pool at Caswell Bay again, so we bought some little nets for them and drove around this time (it was too cold to do the coastal walk). On New Years Eve during the day, we visited Llandeilo and took a walk up to the castle. Up around Dinefwr Castle there are a few picnic tables hidden around and we sat at one of them to have a picnic and a flask of tea. The view was breathtaking with the river winding all the way around and past the castle. We popped into ‘Heavenly’ chocolate shop to see all the wonderful things they make and sell in there. Once again we had clear blue skies, as we did in October, so we enjoyed more lovely sunsets from the cottage, the sky was almost red on my birthday. I wondered Jenny if you have considered a guest book in the cottage for people to write comments in. I know you have one on line, but when you are in the cottage it might be handy to read what guests have got up to. We stayed in an apartment in Marbella in the summer where they had a guest book and it was interesting to see how different families did different things. But also they gave great recommendations aswell has informing future guests about things to avoid.

Ps we have passed on the link to your website to many a friend, so I hope you get some more guests in the future.

Dear Jenny,

My wife and I stayed at the estate in the late summer of 2006. Although we had never visited Wales before, once we arrived at the estate we never wanted to leave. We stayed in the Wheat sheaf cottage. The other cottages were not finished at the time, but our accommodations were superb. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda overlooking the countryside and simply fell in love.We travelled across the “Pond” aboard the QM2, which was the greatest, most relaxing time we ever experienced. We spent a few days at your estate, then attended a fairy-tale wedding in England with some old friends, that was out of this world, then back to the estate and some basketball with Stripe. Our holiday there was probably the finest one we ever had(and we are getting up in age). We certainly look forward to visiting again one day.

Sincerely, The Meilners
